Teaming up with various vendors, scientists, and software developers Infiscale brings the best of several worlds and experiences together making solutions that are not only suitable for a wide range of needs but also capable of surpassing previously held expectations regarding cluster management, scalability, flexibility and even implementing cluster technologies in previously unconsidered environments.
Both Warewulf and Perceus can be built as standalone solutions (monitoring or provisioning respectively), and when combined offer a complete HPC clustering platform.
Cluster computing is pushing outside of the specific High Performance Computing (HPC) realm and is now moving towards other solutions. Of these include web servers, database, workstation/visualization labs, intrusion detection/security among others. Tool kits facilitating management need to be able not only be flexible but also completely solution neutral and capable of supporting many roles and features. Even within HPC clusters the requirement for flexibility has also increased due to the many options for hardware and software.
Warewulf has long been a standard for stateless cluster solutions because of its flexibility, ease of use, and neutrality (applications, architectures, distribution, kernel, etc...). Even with Warewulf's emphasis on these 3 points, it still had many limitations in its design.
Thus came the vision. To continue with all of the facets that have made Warewulf a great solution, focusing not only on the same goals and outcome but also the growing cluster niche (e.g. HPC, web, database, IO, labs of workstations, etc...).
This portal offers not only direct access to both Warewulf and Perceus, but also access for people to publish their findings, HOWTOs, and general cluster related blogs.
